A striking Kea necklace cleverly cast in sterling silver from an original Tania Mallow carving, finished with a sterling silver chain and clasp.
The Kea is New Zealand's native bird prankster. A cheeky, curious and highly intelligent parrot found only in Alpine areas of the South Island. They are often present at Ski fields and known for their habit of chewing rubber around car windows and collecting shiny things. With a shimmery olive green feathers and bright orange under wing they are very striking especially in flight as depicted in Tania mallow’s stunning bar style necklace.
The bird range has a beautiful weighty feel. Like many of Tania Mallow's other pieces they are created with comfort and quality at the forefront. Materials are not spared on her necklaces and wearing them feels amazing. This necklace is enhanced by a skillful oxidization technique which brings the carved lines to life.
Sterling silver is an alloy of silver containing 92.5% pure silver. The alloy composition results in a metal that is very durable and long lasting. Sterling silver is easily polished using a polishing cloth. Tania Mallow jewellery is certified sterling silver.
