Adorable Pīwakawaka stud earrings, beautifully cast in sterling silver from an original Tania Mallow carving and finished with a sterling silver post and scroll fixture.
This delightful design captures the charm of New Zealand’s native Pīwakawaka (Fantail) in profile, skillfully brought to life in precious metal. With its signature fan-shaped tail spread wide, this piece celebrates Tania’s favorite bird in exquisite detail.
The Pīwakawaka is one of Aotearoa’s most beloved native birds. Their playful chirrups and fluttering movements make them an irresistible companion on bush walks, where they flit along, gathering tiny bugs stirred up by passersby. Spreading their tails, they chatter as if sharing a story—a trait that has earned them the title of ‘messengers’ among our native birdlife.
“The Pīwakawaka or Fantail is one of my favorite New Zealand birds. They are so joyful and playful and always make me smile.”
Like many of Tania Mallow’s creations, these earrings are designed with both comfort and quality in mind. They are lightweight enough for all-day wear, making them as effortless to wear as they are beautiful.
